Gas Turbine Controls Familiarization Training

Available Course Variants

1. LM6000 Familiarization

4 days duration

Gas Turbine — LM6000 engine familiarization covering basic LM6000 gas turbine theory, construction and operation, with a focus on major components and modules, basic turbine construction and PF model specifics. Develops a background in LM6000 gas turbine and associated auxiliary support system operation that enables participants to better analyse operating issues and take corrective actions. Familiarization, starting, loading and specific operator checks of the various turbine support and auxiliary systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.

2. LM2500 Familiarization

4 days duration

Gas Turbine — LM2500 engine familiarization covering basic LM2500 gas turbine theory, construction and operation, with a focus on major components and modules, basic turbine construction and +G4 dual fuel model specifics. Develops a background in LM2500 gas turbine and associated auxiliary support system operation that enables participants to better analyse operating issues and take corrective actions.

3. Control System Woodward Familiarization

4 days duration

Introduces plant maintenance personnel to the Woodward MicroNet Plus turbine control system. Provides the requisite knowledge to understand the hardware layout of typical systems, from the main chassis and its circuit boards, I/O cards and field termination modules. Provides training on Graphical Application Programmer (GAP) software navigation and an understanding of how to evaluate fuel control, sequence logic and turbine-based alarms. Overview of control actuator and other I/O calibration procedures, plus the operator interface (HMI) and in particular its use when performing combustion mapping of the DLE engine variant.

4. Control System MKVIe Familiarization

4 days duration

Introduces plant maintenance personnel to the GE MKVIe turbine control system. Provides the requisite knowledge to understand the distributed module hardware layout, I/O modules, toolbox software and alarm management. Covers startup/shutdown sequences, protection logic and basic troubleshooting on GE MKVIe control platforms.
